Satin that does the work for you. The ruching runs diagonally across the waist rather than straight around, which is why it reads as shaping instead of gathering. Sleeveless, high at the neck, close through the hip, and then it lets go below the knee into a soft flare.

Good to know

Satin shows everything underneath. Seamless underwear makes a real difference with this one.
It is cut close through the hip. The ruching gives a little, but this is a fitted dress, not a forgiving one. Between sizes, take the larger.
It runs long for a midi. On someone around 5 foot 6 it sits at mid-calf. If you are shorter than that, expect it closer to the ankle.
Colors sell through at different speeds. Not every color is stocked in every size right now, and the size selector shows exactly what is available.
Do not tumble dry. Cold wash, hang to dry, and iron on low from the inside if it needs it. Satin scorches quickly.
